Ketamine Assisted Therapy in Los Angeles & Santa Monica, CA
Move Beyond Feeling Stuck and Go Deeper in Your Healing
Sometimes, traditional talk therapy can only take you so far. You may understand your patterns and know what you want to change, yet still feel emotionally stuck or disconnected from the person you want to become.
Ketamine Assisted Therapy, also known as Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy or KAP, combines psychotherapy with medically prescribed ketamine to support deeper emotional exploration and meaningful growth.
I offer in-person Ketamine Assisted Therapy at my Los Angeles office for clients from Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and surrounding communities.
What Is Ketamine Assisted Therapy?
A Different Way to Access Deeper Therapeutic Work
Ketamine Assisted Therapy combines ketamine treatment with the support and structure of psychotherapy.
Ketamine may temporarily increase emotional openness, flexibility, and neuroplasticity, which is the brain’s ability to form and reorganize connections. This may make it easier to step outside familiar ways of thinking, access emotions from a different perspective, and explore patterns that have been difficult to change through talk therapy alone.
Ketamine does not replace therapy. Instead, it acts as an adjunct to the therapeutic process.
I think of it as a supportive friend who has your back while also encouraging you to go deeper, face what has been holding you back, and grow toward the person you want to become.
Who May Benefit from Ketamine Assisted Therapy?
For Those Who Want to Go Deeper
Ketamine Assisted Therapy may be appropriate for adults who want to deepen their healing work or feel that they have become stuck in traditional talk therapy.
It may be considered as part of treatment for concerns such as:
-
Depression
-
Anxiety
-
Post-traumatic stress disorder
-
Trauma-related symptoms
-
Eating disorders or disordered eating
-
Persistent negative thought patterns
-
Emotional disconnection
-
Low self-worth or shame
-
Difficulty moving beyond past experiences
-
Feeling stuck despite previous therapeutic work
You do not need to be in crisis or feel that you have exhausted every other option. Some people pursue KAP because they want to understand themselves more deeply, move beyond repetitive patterns, or create greater emotional and personal growth.
Ketamine Assisted Therapy is not suitable for everyone. Before receiving a prescription, you must complete a medical evaluation with Journey Clinical to determine whether this treatment is medically appropriate for you.
My Ketamine Assisted Therapy Process
I partner with Journey Clinical, a medical organization that supports licensed psychotherapists in providing Ketamine Assisted Therapy.
Journey Clinical handles the medical aspects of treatment, while I provide the psychotherapy and remain with you throughout the in-office KAP experience.
The process generally includes the following steps:
1. Medical Consultation
You will begin with a virtual medical consultation with the Journey Clinical team.A qualified medical provider will review your health history, current medications, mental health concerns, and treatment goals. This evaluation helps determine whether ketamine is safe and appropriate for you.
2. Prescription and Treatment Plan
When you are medically eligible, Journey Clinical will create an individualized treatment plan and prescribe the ketamine.
The medicine is provided as a lozenge that is held in the mouth. Journey Clinical manages the prescription, dosing recommendations, medical follow-ups, and ongoing medical oversight.
3. Preparation with Me
Before the dosing session, we will prepare for the experience together.
Preparation may include discussing your intentions, addressing concerns, developing grounding tools, and considering what you hope to explore during the session. This helps create a supportive emotional foundation before taking the medicine.
4. In-Office KAP Session
You will bring the prescribed ketamine lozenge to my Los Angeles office and take it according to Journey Clinical’s medical instructions.
The session usually lasts approximately two to four hours. I remain with you throughout the experience, providing a grounded, compassionate, and nonjudgmental therapeutic presence.
5. Integration
After the experience, integration therapy helps you explore what arose and connect it to your continued healing.
We may discuss emotions, memories, physical sensations, images, insights, or new perspectives. Integration helps transform the experience into practical and meaningful changes in your relationships, daily life, and connection with yourself.
How Does Ketamine Assisted Therapy Work?
Supporting New Perspectives and Possibilities
Ketamine affects several systems in the brain, including receptors and neural pathways involved in mood, stress, learning, and emotional processing.
One of its most meaningful potential effects is its ability to temporarily support neuroplasticity. When the brain becomes more flexible, deeply established emotional and cognitive patterns may become more open to change.
During this period, psychotherapy can help you explore new perspectives, process difficult emotions, and begin developing healthier ways of relating to yourself and your experiences.
For some clients, Ketamine Assisted Therapy can accelerate progress at a rate they have not experienced in traditional talk therapy. The experience may help create space between you and your usual defenses, allowing you to approach difficult material with greater curiosity and compassion.
What Does a KAP Session Feel Like?
Every Experience Is Personal
Ketamine experiences vary from person to person and may also change from one session to the next.
Some people experience a dreamlike state, a sense of emotional distance from familiar concerns, greater access to memories, or a new perspective on their lives. Others notice physical sensations, symbolic imagery, emotional release, or a deeper sense of connection with themselves.
There is no single experience you are supposed to have.
I create a safe therapeutic setting in which you can approach whatever arises without pressure or judgment. I remain present throughout the session to support you, help you feel grounded, and provide reassurance when needed.
The experience itself is only one part of the process. Preparation and integration are equally important in helping you make meaning from what arises and carry it into your life.
What Are the Potential Benefits?
Creating Space for Meaningful Change
Ketamine has demonstrated rapidly acting antidepressant and mood-supporting effects for some people. These effects may begin within hours of treatment, although every person responds differently.
Potential benefits of Ketamine Assisted Therapy may include:
-
Greater emotional openness
-
Relief from feeling mentally or emotionally stuck
-
New perspectives on long-standing concerns
-
Increased access to difficult emotions
-
Reduced attachment to repetitive negative thoughts
-
Greater self-compassion
-
Deeper therapeutic insight
-
Improved engagement in psychotherapy
-
A renewed sense of possibility
Support for mood and emotional well-being
Ketamine is not a quick fix, and no specific outcome can be guaranteed. Its value often comes from how the experience is supported and integrated through psychotherapy.
How Many KAP Sessions Will I Need?
An Individualized Approach to Treatment
Some people report profound or meaningful shifts after a single Ketamine Assisted Therapy session.
However, longer-lasting results are often supported by completing a series of sessions rather than relying on one experience. I generally recommend considering at least three sessions, depending on your needs, goals, response to the medicine, and treatment plan from Journey Clinical.
Your progress will be evaluated throughout the process. I will support you within my role as your therapist, while the Journey Clinical medical team will oversee the medical aspects of your treatment.
There is no requirement to achieve a certain kind of breakthrough within a specific number of sessions. The process is individualized and should unfold at a pace that feels safe and appropriate for you.
Healing Through the Mind, Body, and Nervous System
I approach Ketamine Assisted Therapy through a trauma-informed and integrative lens.
Depending on your needs, I may draw from Internal Family Systems, Somatic Therapy, mindfulness, EMDR principles, and body-based awareness during preparation and integration.
These approaches can help you:
-
Understand the different parts of yourself
-
Recognize how emotions appear in your body
-
Develop greater nervous system awareness
-
Approach protective patterns with compassion
-
Process difficult experiences without becoming overwhelmed
-
Translate insights into healthier choices and relationships
The goal is not simply to feel different during the ketamine experience. The goal is to use that experience as a doorway into deeper, more sustainable therapeutic work.
Ready to Go Deeper in Your Healing?
Feeling stuck does not mean you have failed at therapy or that meaningful change is out of reach.
Ketamine Assisted Therapy can create an opportunity to step outside familiar patterns, explore your inner experience from a new perspective, and reconnect with your capacity for growth.
I provide in-person Ketamine Assisted Therapy at my Los Angeles office for clients in Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and surrounding areas.

TESTIMONIALS
"I’ve been to a lot of different therapists and felt exhausted by talk therapy, yet still stuck. I was referred to Jacklynne when I expressed that I was interested in a more somatic approach, and I’ve found her use of IFS really helpful in reframing my depression. If you’re stuck in talk therapy and you want to go deeper and “do the work”, Jacklynne’s intuition, compassion, creativity and resourcefulness will help you to unpack and gain more insight into yourself and what you need!"
"I was immediately impressed by the thoughtful and incisive questions Jacklynne asked. She has a kind presence and I felt very comfortable sharing with her. She presented me with tools in a clear and concise way which I appreciate because I have a short attention span. When I asked questions about the application of the tools, she gave clear and quick feedback. I left my session impressed by her listening skills, her observations and helpful recommendations. I felt a sense of relief after the session and I couldn’t stop smiling. It felt good to feel comfortable sharing things I usually keep to myself. I look forward to working with her."
"I am so happy I found Jacklynne. She is an incredible therapist who really cares about my well being. I am a survivor of complex trauma. Jacklynne not only provides a compassionate and safe space, but she also helps me with somatic tools to regulate my nervous system. I am so grateful to have her in my corner. I could not recommend her more."
